A day like this by Kelley McNeil

The story begins like a normal family drama. Annie Beyers is living a home-maker’s dream with a loving husband and daughter, in a lovely house. On a particular day when her husband’s flight is delayed and her daughter Hannah is feeling unwell, Annie decides to take her to the paediatrician in a worsening weather. As she navigates the car through familiar roads amidst a rising thunderstorm, they meet with an accident. Annie wakes up in a hospital bed to find her daughter missing and with no one around her having any recollection of her ever having a daughter. While everything around her, people and places feel the same initially, something seems completely off-kilter. Memories of her life clashes with the present state she finds herself in. She desperately attempts to find her daughter, painstakingly reliving the precious last few moments with her daughter while trying to make sense of the familiar yet altered environment around her and reclaim her very identity. As she grapples with the incongruencies and rising despair she begins questioning the motives of those around her while exploring her identity in this new reality, though stubbornly clinging to memories of her daughter and her sanity.

As she tries to untangle the truth she starts wondering if there is an elaborate conspiracy at play or something else.

As the story progresses so does the sense of mystery making it a nail-biting page-turner with a rather unexpected twist that makes it an unforgettable read.
