From a world on the other end…

The voice floated over to him insistently, though he still could not hear the words clearly.
He closed his eyes and concentrated hard as he tuned out all other sounds. He focused on that one voice carrying over from the forest on the Other Side. Just the way Nutcat had taught him to, about listening to forest sounds.
Finally he could slowly make out the words now and they went like this…
“I am so far away and lonely
Dull and cold and quite lowly
da..de…da..de…daaaaa
da..de…da..de…daaaaa
Will you be my friend?
