The rose and the spider
Entered a wager.
Between the insect and the flower –
Who was the most striking?
Who had the more vivid coloring?
Who sported a deeper sheen?
Pleasing red or soothing green
“But don’t you both see?”
The leaves surrounding them cried in glee
“You emphasize each other
With contrast you two glow brighter
And everyone is bothered least
As to which one of you is the beauty and which one the beast!”
