A sight so arresting!

An olive-backed sunbird
Flits from flower to flower
Transcending smoothly
From moment to moment
Dainty little acrobat
So swift and alert its actions
Appearing spontaneous and natural
Seemingly driven by a longing
For sweet nectar
Diving, darting, daring
Spry and nimble
Pollen collected on its curved beak
Deposited in the next flower it seeks
Is its intent guided by cause and effect
or by choice,
random and unpredictable?
And its movements so arresting,
Follow a set pattern do they
Or utterly random are they
Or a bit of both?
